Sales Trends
Overall EV sales increased by 12.04% m-o-m to 3,33,670 units in September 2026, and EV sales grew 83.58% y-o-y compared with September 2025, while overall EV adoption reached 13.11%, highlighting the continued long-term growth momentum of electric mobility in India.
Segment-wise Performance
- Electric Two-Wheelers (E2W): Sales increased by 13% m-o-m to 2,07,314 units and also registers 91% y-o-y increase. The top three players accounted for ~64% of total registrations.
- Passenger Electric Three-Wheelers (E3W-P): Sales increased to 74,247units (+7% m-o-m, +41% y-o-y).
- L3: 29,509 units
- L5: 44,738 units
- Cargo Electric Three-Wheelers (E3W-Cargo): Sales declined to 11,777 units (+11% m-o-m, +39% y-o-y).
- L3: 6,409 units
- L5: 5,368 units
- Electric Cars (E-Cars): E-cars marked the highest monthly sales with 36,094 units (19% m-o-m, +115% y-o-y). Tata Motors (40.96%) led the market, followed by Mahindra (21.55%). VinFast captured an 8.21% share to be in the top four position.
- Electric Buses (E-Bus): E-bus sales recorded 832 units, registering an 8% m-o-m decline while showing a 140% y-o-y increase. JBM Auto (32.93%) led the market, followed by PMI Electro Mobility (16.95%) and Olectra Greentech (15.50%).
- Electric Trucks (E-Truck): E-Trucks marked the monthly sales with 3,375 units (-11% m-o-m, +164% y-o-y). Light Goods Vehicles (LGVs) dominated the segment with a 96% share, while Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) accounted for the remaining 4%.
