Tenders Issued: July 2026 saw the issuance of 21 RE tenders under EPC and project development segments.
- Project Development: In July 2026, 1133 MW RE tenders across RE with Storage and Solar segments along with 1119.5 MW/ 2583 MWh Standalone Storage tenders were issued.
- EPC: Over 877 MW of EPC RE tenders across solar, RE with Storage and Wind segment along with 750 MW/ 2000 MWh Standalone BESS tenders were issued in July 2026.
- MPPMCL issued tender for development of 625 MW/1250 MWh Standalone BESS project in Madhya Pradesh.
Auction Completed
In July 2026, 3295 MW of renewable energy capacity were awarded. Wind accounted for 2095 MW of this, with the balance 1200 MW awarded under NHPC solar tender to Coal India and NLC India Renewables. During the month, CIL’s 20 MW Floating Solar tender was awarded to Northern Express Infra Developers, along with NTPC REL’s 16.7 MW/100 MWh Vanadium Redox Flow BESS tender, which was awarded to Bondada Engineering under EPC category.
Installed Capacity
In June 2026, about 5106 MW of solar and 636.35 MW of wind capacity were added in the country, taking the cumulative RE capacity to 288 GW.
State wise Utility Scale Solar and Wind installed capacity in Jun 2026
In June 2026, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh were the top three states for utility-scale solar installations, contributing 2245.13 MW, which accounted for 81.52% of the total 2753.78 MW utility-scale solar capacity added.
Uttar Pradesh installed the highest rooftop solar capacity with 1554 MW, followed by Rajasthan (60.1 MW) and Karnataka (57.2 MW).
Of the 118.79 MW total capacity installed under the off-grid solar segment, Madhya Pradesh contributed the largest share with 47.1 MW, followed by Maharashtra (31.7 MW) .
Gujarat added the highest wind capacity with 236.1 MW, followed by Tamil Nadu (114.16 MW) and Maharashtra (110.7 MW).
PM SURYA GHAR Yojana Residential Rooftop installed capacity
A total of 1592 MW of residential rooftop solar capacity was installed during the month. Uttar Pradesh led residential rooftop solar installations with 288 MW capacity, followed by Maharashtra (208 MW) and Gujarat (198 MW).
Monthly RE Generation:
In July 2026, renewable energy sources generated 34814.92 MUs, reflecting a increase of about 3.5% compared to June 2026.
Monthly VRE Curtailment
In July 2026, VRE curtailment increased multifold on a month-on-month basis, with a total of 1166.52 MUs of renewable energy curtailed. During July, 3.3% of the renewable energy generated was curtailed.
Key Deals/Financing Trends
In July 2026, a total of about US$ 2709.69 million in investments were made in the RE sector in India. The power transmission sector received investments of US$ 552 million. Aditya Birla Renewables Ltd. (ABRen), a subsidiary of Grasim Industries, has signed an agreement to acquire Shell-backed Sprng Energy for US$ 1797.4 million.
IEX GDAM Trend
In July 2026, IEX recorded 936 MUs of GDAM traded volume registering an 8.08% increase over June 2026 with traded volume increasing by 70 MUs. The average market clearing price in IEX-GDAM for July 2026 stood at INR 4.86/kWh registering a 15.18% decline over June 2026.
Module Price Trends
On a month-on-month basis, in the domestic market, Non-DCR TOPCon and Mono PERC module prices remained stable in July. DCR TOPCon module prices recorded a 3.17% month-on-month increase in July.
Policy and Regulations
In this month, 30 central and 43 state-level policies/ notifications/ regulations/ orders were issued.
