Summary
Tenders Issued: August 2026 saw the issuance of 15 RE tenders under EPC and project development segments.
- Project Development: In August 2026, 3255 MW/12105 MWh Standalone Storage tenders were floated, along with 500 MW Distributed Solar tender.
- EPC: Over 1890 MW of EPC tenders across solar and Wind segment along with 187.5 MW/ 750 MWh Standalone BESS tenders were issued.
- RVUNL issued tender for development of 1500 MW/ 6000 MWh Standalone BESS project in Rajasthan.
Auction Completed
In August 2026, tenders totaling 950 MW/2900 MWh of standalone BESS & 2500 MW of RE with storage capacity were awarded. During the month, 2 major tenders were awarded under RE with storage category. SECI’s 1500 MW/6000 MWh was awarded to 3 players with lowest tariff as INR 5.99/kWh and SECI’s 1000 MW RTC tender was also awarded to 7 players, with the lowest discovered tariff as INR 5.25/kWh.
Installed Capacity
In July 2026, about 2443 MW of solar and 694 MW of wind capacity were added in the country, taking the cumulative RE capacity to 291 GW.
State wise Utility Scale Solar and Wind installed capacity in Jun 2026
In July 2026, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh were the top three states for utility-scale solar installations, contributing 1,456.09 MW, which accounted for 84% of the total 1,736.92 MW utility-scale solar capacity added.
Uttar Pradesh installed the highest rooftop solar capacity with 135.5 MW, followed by Gujarat (82.8 MW) and Madhya Pradesh (24.7 MW).
PM SURYA GHAR Yojana Residential Rooftop installed capacity
As of August 2026, the PM Surya Ghar Yojana has achieved an installed residential rooftop capacity of 16,185.48 MW, covering 54,65,417 households. India’s residential rooftop solar installations declined by approximately 11.6% MoM, from 1,592 MW in July 2026 to 1,407.32 MW in August 2026.
Monthly RE Generation
In August 2026, renewable energy sources generated 35252.41 MUs, reflecting a increase of about 1.25% compared to July 2026.
Monthly VRE Curtailment
In August 2026, VRE curtailment declined by 42.75% compared with July, with a total of 667.76 MUs of renewable energy curtailed, compared with 1,166.52 MUs in July. During the month, 1.89% of renewable energy generated was curtailed, down from 3.3% in July, representing a 1.41 percentage point improvement.

IEX GDAM Trend
In August 2026, IEX recorded 983.16 MUs of GDAM traded volume registering a 5.04% increase over July 2026 with traded volume increasing by 47.16 MUs. The average market clearing price in IEX-GDAM for August 2026 stood at INR 5.31/kWh registering a 9.26% decline over July 2026.In August 2026, a total of about US$ 1762 million in investments were made in the RE sector in India, led by debt financing of US$ 1146.96 million, followed by acquisitions of 515.05 million and equity investment of US$100 million.
Module price trends
On a month-on-month basis, in the domestic market, Non-DCR TOPCon and Mono PERC module prices decreased by 1.4% in Aug 2026. DCR TOPCon module prices have decreased by 0.81% during the month.
