Installation trends
- As of March 31, 2025, about 85.6 GW of utility-scale solar capacity has been commissioned in India, while another 68.2 GW is under pipeline (where auctions are completed).
- As of March 31, 2025, Rajasthan has maximum installed solar capacity of ~26.9 GW followed by Gujarat (12.8 GW) and Karnataka (10.6 GW).
- In FY2025, about 17.4 GW of utility-scale solar capacity and another 5.15 GW of rooftop solar capacity were added in India.
- In FY2025, the top three states with maximum installed solar capacity were Rajasthan (6.5 GW), Gujarat (3.6 GW), and Maharashtra (2.3 GW).
- For next year i.e. FY2025, about 21.2 GW of new utility-scale solar projects and 7.2 GW of rooftop/onsite solar projects are expected to be commissioned.
Annual Market shares- FY2025
- Modules: Waaree, Jinko and Longi were the top three module suppliers in India in FY2025.
- Module Export: In FY2025, the top 3 players First Solar, Adani and Waaree have exported significant capacities. First Solar has contributed solar modules exports of about 66.7% of their total production in FY2025.
- Inverters: Sungrow, Sineng, TBEA, FIMER were the top four inverter suppliers in India in FY2025.
- DISCOM PPA: Adani, ReNew and Acme were the top three project developers which have commissioned maximum utility-scale solar projects in India in FY2025.
- Private PPA (Open Access): Serentica, JSW Energy and Greenko were the top three developers that have commissioned maximum open access capacity in FY2025.
- Utility-Scale EPC Contractors: Tata Power, Jakson Green and Sterling & Wilson were the leading third-party EPC contractors for utility-scale solar projects in India in FY2025.
- Rooftop/Onsite model: Tata Power Solar, Mahindra Solarize and Orb Energy were the leading players that have setup maximum projects under the rooftop/onsite solar category in FY2025.
