EV Sales Digest – March 2026
Summary
- E2W: In March 2026, India’s high-speed electric two-wheeler (HS E2W) sales recorded a m-o-m increase of 71%, reaching 1,90,941 units, and a 47% y-o-y increase compared to March 2025. During the month, the top three players dominated the market, together accounting for around 69% of total E2W registrations.
- E3W-Passenger: In March 2026, passenger E3W registrations reached 52,407 units, reflecting a ~6% m-o-m decline 5.6% y-o-y growth compared to March 2025, with L3 at 28,941 units and L5 at 23,466 units. Bajaj Auto led the L5 segment with a 35.48% share, while YC Electric topped the L3 segment with 4.28%.
- E3W-Cargo: In March 2026, registered sales of cargo electric three-wheelers (E3Ws) reached 11,134 units, recording a ~6% month-on-month increase and a 12% year-on-year increase compared to March 2025. Of the total, L3 models accounted for 7,424 units, while L5 contributed 3,710 units. In the L5 cargo segment, Mahindra led with ~15% market share, whereas in the L3 segment, J. S. Auto topped with ~6.8% share.
- E-Car: In March 2026, E-car sales reached 22,236 units, marking 63% m-o-m increase and 81% y-o-y growth compared to March 2025. Tata Motors led the market with ~37% share, followed by Mahindra at ~23.47%. Maruti Suzuki, which entered the E-Cars market in early 2026, captured ~4% market share within first 3 months of 2026
- E-Bus: In March 2026, E-bus sales stood at 559 units, marking a 3% m-o-m decline and 100% y-o-y increase compared to March 2025. JBM Auto led the market with ~37% market share, followed by Switch Mobility at ~29%.
